Expansion of the AV solution at the Regional Headquarters in Sorø

Denmark’s largest-ever regional merger, bringing together Region Zealand and the Capital Region of Denmark, will take effect on 1 January 2027. The Regional Headquarters in Sorø has been selected as the new headquarters for the Regional Council and Executive Committee of the Region of Eastern Denmark.

As part of the merger, the existing council chamber needed to be expanded to accommodate the new Regional Council’s 47 elected members.

The challenge: Expanding the council chamber with additional AV equipment

AV-Huset has been the AV supplier to the Regional Headquarters in Sorø for many years. During this time, we have supplied and installed a wide range of AV equipment, including:

  • A Bosch conference system integrated into a bespoke Arthur Holm motorised iPad lift system

The chamber was first extended in 2009 following Denmark’s local government reform, creating space for the 41 elected members of Region Zealand’s Regional Council. It was subsequently refurbished in 2021, when the first motorised iPad lifts were installed. To prepare for the new Region of Eastern Denmark, the chamber has now been expanded once again. The project included an extension of approximately 90 m² and additional AV equipment to accommodate all 47 members of the new Regional Council.

The solution: A discreet conference system with six additional seats

As part of the expansion, AV-Huset supplied, installed, configured and carried out final testing of the AV equipment for six new seats.

The solution comprises a Bosch conference system with gooseneck microphones integrated into Arthur Holm’s motorised iPad lift system. Custom-made in black to complement the council chamber’s meeting tables, the system creates an elegant and streamlined workspace in which each iPad is discreetly concealed within the table when not in use.

At the touch of a button, all iPads rise smoothly from the tabletop, while a locking mechanism ensures that each screen remains stable during use. The system can also be operated remotely via the room control system and functions as an integrated part of the chamber’s complete AV solution.

The bespoke tabletop panel brings together all the essential functions required at each council member’s seat. The microphone, request-to-speak button, individual loudspeaker, power and USB outlets, and motorised iPad lift are all integrated into one compact solution.

This allows each council member to request the floor, speak, charge personal devices, and raise or conceal the iPad directly from their seat. A dedicated loudspeaker at every seat also ensures clear and consistent speech reproduction throughout the chamber.

The new extension has been designed with respect to the building’s existing architecture while meeting modern requirements for accessibility and sustainability. The chamber’s distinctive rear wall was constructed using bricks from the former council chamber, giving new life to materials that have already formed the setting for many important decisions.

The expanded Regional Council Chamber was officially inaugurated on 11 August 2026.
